Over my sixteen year career in the field of Human Resources, people would ask me what I do and I would answer, "Not what you typically think HR does." All the things behind the scenes, that when they work most people take as a given, but when they don't they become a real obstacle.
An alumni of the University of Waterloo, I started my career with tech giant BlackBerry (RIM back then). Experiencing both their rapid growth and decline while working in their European, Asian and North American headquarters I saw first hand what to do, and not do when scaling rapidly.
Working with the entrepreneurs and advertising gurus at Group m5 is when I first caught the entrepreneurial bug. Most recently while working with the innovative leaders at Provincial Aerospace I honed my ability to work quickly, assess and adapt.
My HR operations experience has taken me around the globe supporting companies of all sizes, in various industries, unionized and non-unionized, as well as companies undergoing massive change. They all have one thing in common: their employees and cultures remain resilient when they are given the right tools and systems. Therein lies my passion.
I think it's important that people are authentic and bring all of who they are to what they do. I'm also a busy mom of two, a wife, daughter, sister and friend. A native of Hamilton Ontario I moved to St. John's Newfoundland where I have lived since 2010 and loved every minute of it!
I am on the Board of Directors of St. John's Homestead Inc., a non-profit organization that aims to address homelessness through the housing and rehousing of vulnerable and at-risk adults across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
